I’m hiring a part-time operator who can do two things well:
- Ship video fast with taste
- Handle just enough ops and research work that things don’t stall
You’ll work directly with a founder, be given creative autonomy and freedom, learn how to make content that performs, and build a portfolio of shorts in a high-growth niche.
This candidate should be comfortable working mostly async, owning outcomes, and hates boring videos as much as I do.
What you’ll be doing
Roughly 60-80% of your time will be video.
- Editing shorts to make them pop, including strong visual hooks, pacing, captions, zooms, screenshots, memes, and fast cuts.
- Turning smart moments into clips that feel alive.
- Shipping volume. Speed and momentum matters more than perfection.
- Following a loose creative direction, not pixel-perfect briefs.
If you live on YouTube, TikTok, or Reels and instinctively know when something drags, this is your lane.
Roughly 20-40% of your time: ops + execution support
- Drafting copy for video descriptions, client deliverables, and internal docs using examples and AI workflows.
- Running research, organizing messy inputs into structured outputs, and packaging work so it’s ready to ship.
- This isn’t glamorous, but it’s finite, async, and important.
How this role actually works
- You’ll usually get a goal, examples, and rough timestamps, not step-by-step instructions.
- You’re expected to make reasonable assumptions, proceed, and note what you assumed.
- If something is genuinely risky, you flag it once. Otherwise, you move forward.
- You don’t need to worry about any account management or client comms. This is purely an internal role.
- We’re async-first. Meetings are rare and short.
About you
You’re likely a good fit if:
- You’re comfortable experimenting and know that the best videos tends to be shipped fast and then you iterate based on what you learn.
- You live on TikTok, Youtube/YouTube Shorts, or Instagram Reels and can detect when the hook, pacing, and storytelling are money.
- You obsess over adding the right memes, contextual b-roll, graphics, and fast cuts. If you don’t know what this means, this probably isn’t the right role for you.
- You’re video-native and already editing video in some capacity regularly especially if it is just for a side hustle, client work, or passion projects.
- You can tolerate some ops work to keep creative output flowing.
- You hate meetings and prefer to work independently.
- You probably have side projects, experiments, or past work where you had to do all of the creative execution yourself.
You will not enjoy this role if:
- You want a role where you are a project manager and just overseeing other people doing the work.
- You optimize for polish at the expense of speed and momentum.
Tools you should already be comfortable with
- CapCut, Descript, or Premiere Pro (or similar short-form editing tools)
- Claude and ChatGPT
- Google Docs and Google Sheets
- Slack
- Trello
Bonus if you’ve worked with AI agents and AI-assisted workflows beyond basic prompting. If you’ve experimented with Claude Code, Claude Cowork, Codex, or OpenClaw/formerly Clawdbot, mention it in your application. 😉
Pay, and logistics
- Async, fully remote
- A few hours of overlap with U.S. MT preferred
- $1,000-2,500 USD per month depending on experience.
- This is a deliverable-based role where you will be expected to ship a set number of deliverables each week but can work on it on your own schedule as long as you meet your deadlines.
- Part-time long-term contract role
- Performance-based bonuses based on volume and quality
